What is Sense of ‘Achievement’ in Career?

Amidst so many bookish knowledge,% of marks gained, being a so called ‘Topper’ in your institute still I bet there is a less chance of the fact that many can define true aspect of ‘Achievement’. Achievement in our career, job and life is away from all the above mentioned factors. There is a minimal chance these factors can affect our ‘Achievement’ but also not strictly independent. Before heading to the confusion of why people mistaken to state these factors as ‘Achievement’, it is necessary to understand its true sense and figure?

The exact sense of ‘Achievement’ is bringing a successful end to something with our efforts, dedication, confidence, skill and humbleness. To do anything in life

firstly, a person needs to have efforts. A sleeping lion catches no deer. Without trying we can’t even lift our body to walk forget about long efforts. The ‘Bhagawad Gita’ is the most pleasing & profound religious writing in the world. The Compilation of 700 verses has every single solution hidden in it if we truly understand it. In context to that Holy Book it is meant-By efforts, we can achieve the universe. Even the ‘Bhagawad Gita’ reads- A man’s own self is his friend. A man’s own self is foe. It states that a person can rise through the efforts of his own mind or draw himself down because we can be either our own enemy or friend.

Secondly, Dedication which is that prison that should be kept captivated within us. The ‘Bhagawad Gita’ reads- one who has control over the mind is tranquil in heat and cold, in pain & pressure, in pleasure & merry, in honour & dishonour, in sacrifices & gains and is ever steadfast with the Supreme Self. Because any purpose will have a good end when there is dedication even during tough of all situations.

Thirdly, confidence; if we don’t have inner strength to support our efforts, dedication we can’t move ahead. Beauty of a house is secondary but a strong base has to be the priority. It provides Strength to both inner & outer parts. The ‘Bhagawad Gita’ reads- Faithful, intent, our senses subdued, we gain knowledge; gaining knowledge, we soon find perfect peace & strength. Next is Skill; we can’t expect us to be excelling via practising Pottery if we are interested in Fishery. Both are indifferently different and have Hell-Heaven differences. For achieving any purpose, there should be a test drive of our skills and interests. Fitting yourself in a wrong place results in a wrong outcome too and then we criticize why we failed to ‘Achieve’? The ‘Bhagawad Gita’ reads- It is better to strive in one’s own dharma than to succeed in the dharma of other. Nothing is ever lost in following one’s own dharma. But competition in other dharma breeds fear & insecurity. Last but most important one which reconnects many qualities i.e. Humbleness. It has 5 significances- Ego, Pride, Anger, Devotion & Expectations. The ‘Bhagawad Gita’ reads following verses-‘If you perform the sacrifice of doing your duty, you do not have to do anything else. Devoted to duty, man attains Perfection’. ‘The delusion of egoistic mind thinks, “I am the doer”.

In reality the almighty remains as a silent witness & who knows the essence of the division of the quality & functions is not bound. ‘One who performs his duty without attachment, surrendering the results to Lord & own works is unaffected by sinful action’. Following the phrase ‘Set thy heart upon thy work but never its reward’, salvation can be achieved. It states being Humble is what we need to do after attaining first four qualities because an egoistic mind with pride in his work and anger for society ends in destruction even after achieving all possible goals. Expectation leads us to wrong doings too especially during our difficult times and make us unstable. So a calm mind needs to be freed from any expectations and results. Devoting your soul & mind is a vital process. The same way, in which Gold is kept safe inside Treasury, it is also important to keep our mind safe by devoting it to a strong force in the nature. We buy fruits to eat not to showcase because it is not a flower after all. Achieving Career Aims is just like this. The above 4 qualities leads you to ‘Achievement’ but Humbleness fix you as a ‘Successful’ Person. Just mark the difference. Not always talent but many times attitude marks our ‘Achievement’.

Being a University topper is not a career goal for me but learning to the best of my ability whatever I can is what I define as a career goal. Getting a successful end in our career, aims, dreams is what ‘Achievement’ is for me & many out there but before that it is necessary to figure out what exactly that end is. My end may be successful for me but not for others. It is we who decide what ‘Achievement’ definition is for us as it varies for person to person. The common mistake even I used to do is to range my so called ‘Achievements’. Getting an ‘A’ grade in schools, Scoring 95% in 12th boards that to with so called ‘The Science Stream’ because people make a science student royal for no reason, Cracking ‘IIT/NEET’, clearing a competitive to read in some best institutes of India is what used to be my priority. Even now dreaming to be a PhD scholar and getting a doctorate degree is what my mind says and without a doubt I will try till the best I can. But what changed me in these years of Teenage is knowing that ‘Achievement’ is just a state of mind because winning/losing firstly starts with our mind & our practised qualities.

Trying Fishing when you are good at pottery won’t give you the desired results then neither I can accept me as a successful person nor the society & they will get another puppet to pass their trolls on. As I have stated ‘Achievement’ has to be defined as per we want it to then only we can decide either the fruits are sweet or bitter. But what I have settled in- ‘Do every possible thing you can, later on don’t leave any space to regret. It is me who can decide being a PhD scholar or being a person of my dreams who can contribute in revolution via any sector I aim to hold is my personal ‘Achievement’? The illusion we create is we set Career, Jobs ‘Achievement’ as the perspective for the people around us not within us. Reading till the end of your subject career may be ‘Achievement’ for others not for me or my state of mind. The above mentioned qualities are my personal mantra. The real truth is those 5 qualities are directly proportional to each other; absence of one will leave a big void in our ‘Achievement’ both via self & society perspective. But again, we can’t hold over nature and there is power beyond us which is called Results. We can try hard to fulfil those qualities required for ‘Achievement’ in our career but as I earlier defined it as a successful end which needs to bear sweet fruits. We can try to sow seeds of sweet fruits, but harvesting and fruiting not only depends on us but also nature, seasons, situations, circumstances and Karma. It is said, ‘As you sow so shall you reap’. The ‘Bhagawad Gita’ again reads- ‘The actions of great person is an inspiration for others. Whatever he does becomes a standard for others to follow’. Sometimes we need to fight not for us but for all. It is merely better to try something difficult and fail to advice next generations or win blissfully & reflect yourself as an ‘Achiever’ to inspire people to let know the real definitions of ‘Achievement’. Higher the risk, greater the reward and also Higher the risk, greater is the self satisfaction. But taking No Risk will end us in a complete downgraded person and we have to live life complaining & cursing our past. We have to choose to live with our own interests first and society next. So decide wisely is what I say me every morning regarding my career, future goals. GOOD LUCK! Because although 99% is within us but absence of that 1% luck can’t yield 100% satisfaction or any such ‘Achievement’.

****  Thank You ****
